Field Notes

Notes:

This series shows four Noisy Miners loudly and aggressively attacking a Laughing Kookaburra in my backyard early this morning. This is the first time I have ever seen a larger bird hold its ground in a defensive posture in the face of one of these aggressive displays. Noisy Miners will often gang up and attack anything they deem to be a threat... in fact, they are quite a good 'alarm system' for spottings, as they lead you to animals you wouldn't normally see! This kookaburra held out for several minutes before flying off with the Miners in hot pursuit.

love these kind of spottings! Made me Smile.
Awesome series, Shanna. They're so aggressive. Mine were attacking a Butcherbird this morning, and they actually got him onto the ground. It's a different story when it's cats vs. Noisy Miners. Sometimes they get more than they bargained for.
you've captured their personality perfectly.
