Field Notes

Description:

This moth was about 7 mm long and is bicolored. It's tan on the front of the wing and brown on the bottom. There is a black band in between the two colors as well as a black pattern on the brown portion of the wing.
There were 5 of these in one of our kitchen cabinets. The larvae was in our rice container and can be seen at: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/37953147

Habitat:

Kitchen. "native to South America; now cosmopolitan"

Notes:

"Larvae are found in stored food products; adults are found indoors wherever food products are stored. Infests a wide variety of stored food products such as flour, oatmeal, dried fruits, seeds, nuts, powdered milk, biscuits, chocolate, and bird seed.
