Description:
Very common species in the region where this specimen was found, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil's interior. This butterfly has a very peculiar behavior when landing (she really likes to rest on the bark of trees). She always rests with the wings fully collected and to observe the presence of something she interprets as a threat, she prefers to backtrack a bit taking a few steps to the side until it is hidden behind the trunk. When flies, she always usually return to the same location from which her came.
Habitat:
Minas Gerais, Brazil's interior and according Wikipedia, it is also found in northern South America and Central America.
Notes:
Again I must say I'm not totally sure about the ID. According to my limited knowledge about seems that this is indeed the species, but in recent days I learned that some imperceptible details to an untrained eye (not expert) can make a huge difference. I count on the help of friends to a more precise identification.
