Field Notes

Description:

Yarrow has a single strong stem with a cluster of yellow button top flowers at the top. The leaves are feathery medium green, the stem is about 30" tall.

Habitat:

Growing on the edge of the wetland up towards the levy road along with blackberries and grasses. Although it is adjacent to the wetland the area where it is growing is very dry with little topsoil.

Notes:

Yarrow is also called Soldier's Woundwart and has been used for over 100,000 years to stop blood flow on wounds and as a painkiller.
