Field Notes

Description:

Moths are surprisingly impermeable and can withstand quite a lot of water. If not too hard of a rain or if they are not trapped on their backs in water, raindrops mostly just bead up and fall off. This large Silkmoth was in the rain most of the night with no ill effects.

Habitat:

Ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
