Field Notes

Description:

An adult psyllid (pic 1) between two fern frond-shaped white lerps. Pic 2 shows the adult between the lerps and two psyllid nymphs -a small brown (near the lerp) and a green nymph (top Rt corner). Pic 3 shows both nymphs re-entering the lerp, after a wander on the leaf.

Habitat:

Spotted on a spotted gum (Eucalyptus maculata).

Notes:

The leaves of this young tree was covered with such lerps and sooty mold (seen as black spots), which forms on the leaves because of the sugary contents of the lerps.

Thanks Martin. I like this spotting-especially seeing the two nymphs return "home".
A nice observation Leuba. You got the whole family.
