Agreed that is more likely, Black-winged Stilt does not have white on the neck as a baby http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/31446024
not sure but looks like Red-wattled Lapwing baby Ref.:http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/11977663
Checked the exif metadata, indeed 31 of July 2012, thanks for the heads up
End of July sounds good but if they are digital photos they will have the data coded in them if the camera date is correct and it can be read through most paint programs. Because your picture was over probably over 1200 pixels when when you posted it the EXIF data was lost when we converted it but you should still have the original. If it is still in the camera or on the memory card the camera can also give the date it was taken. A precise, correct date leads to more accurate records.
Thank you for commenting! Could have been the end of July. Makes more sense?
Difficult to be certain at this age unless you see the parent but I think it is likely a Black-winged Stilt. Somewhat late in the year for such a young bird, only a couple of weeks old at most, are you sure the date spotted is correct?
