Field Notes

Description:

This tree is at least 40 m tall (130ft), leaves are grouped in clusters, white bark, I don't have much information besides the images. It looks like some sort of Cupressus, but I am not at all sure.

Habitat:

El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve, in Chiapas, the majority of it is cloud forest, but the southern slopes –around 1600 m above sea level (5,200 ft)–
are dominated by Cupressus-Pinus associations.

Notes:

Any help on precise ID is much appreciated.

Wow, really big trees are inspiring. Beautiful, and like many giants, it's got its own ecosystem up top. Look at that! Great choice for a first spotting ... welcome.
