Hmm... It seems both small and pale compared to what I see in Ohio, but that could be a local adaptation to conditions. One dorsal fin or two?
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm still thinking Brook Trout due to the white trim on the pectoral fins. What do you think?
This is likely another darter, but difficult to tell which one - they are easier to identify in the spring in breeding colors. I'd suggest looking up which ones are known in that watershed and just memorizing them. Probably only 4 to 6 per river, and they're pretty distinctively named.
