Description:
Small brownish, orange butterfly with a black 'eye' pattern on its upper wing. The underside of the wing and the top side, when you get to see it, are very similar in colour. The body is grey coloured and very furry looking. The family these butterflies belong to are commonly referred to as 'the Browns'.
Habitat:
These butterflies were flying around our friends garden today and when they landed on the grass you nearly trod on them because they had wiggled their way down into the grass, and with their wings closed you could hardly see them. When I looked them up, I discovered that they lay their eggs on the underside of blades of grass in mid June, so this would explain their behaviour today.
