Field Notes

Notes:

The lighting was so poor (there was a storm coming in) and the camera we had was so low tech, we couldn't get a much better picture than this. My friend and I saw this snake slithering up across the beach (we were able to trace from its mark in the sand that it actually came up from the sea -- though it's not a coral snake) towards the bushes. We had no means to scale it so I had my friend take a picture with me at a relative distance (it shows how small the snake is)

Thanks S Frazier for the ID -- it would've been AWESOME & at the same time freaky to see it dropping/flying down from the trees! Maybe it did overshoot & landed in the water -- the winds were pretty strong that afternoon (with the incoming storm).
The "habitat" of your spotting makes it sound unlikely for this species, but perhaps it was just a fluke -- maybe it "flew" down to the sea.
