Field Notes

Description:

Being from Europe, it is really nice to see the American mink where it actually belongs, in North America. This one was hanging around our dock for days, running back and forth with fresh catches of fish - so we assumed there was a den nearby. Luckily it didn't really mind our presence. The mink is similar to the otter in colour and shape, but about half the size and more slender.

Habitat:

Stays around aquatic environments, both fresh- and saltwater. Spotted here at a freshwater lake.

Notes:

Agile and efficient fisher / hunter of small rodents, birds and eggs.
