Field Notes

Habitat:

On the leaf of one of my wife's orchids inside the house.

Notes:

ID to species is entirely on the merit of location. The specimen was not capture or examined. This appears to be relatively recent addition to the area, having been introduced from Europe. I didn't find any references to them being found in Canada before during my (very) brief search, but given the existing spottings on bugguide.net, it is hardly unexpected. Unfortunately I had my external flashes set up in my studio at the time and so had to choose between DOF and on-camera flash. The set of images presented is a compromise to say the least.

Neat. My daughter was just looking at those in her guidebook!
What a fascinating series :) Love the outcome for spider from ant mimicry and exhibition of polymorphism for the purpose of choosing a better mate:)
