Field Notes

Description:

Family: Nymphalidae > Subfamily: Satyrinae > Tribe: Satyrini. Easily the largest satyr butterfly I have yet enountered, it nonetheless was difficult to approach and even harder to photograph as it never left the shady understory of the hammock. This species hosts on switch cane, which I found in abundance around the site.

Habitat:

Oak Hamnmock
