Field Notes

Description:

Skeletal remains, animal unknown. The remnant is 14.5 cm long and 6 cm wide at its widest point. It weighs 6.0 g, light for its size and is therefore perhaps from a bird. It is clearly bony, not cartilaginous.

Habitat:

Not known.

Notes:

It was found, apparently washed up, on a beach in Iceland. I am in the process of trying to find exactly where.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

This is definitely the pelvic girdle of a bird. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Icelandic avifauna and thus have no idea what species it could be.
