Glad I could help some. I wasn't very clear about the submission thing. You could submit this st Bugguide or another website for ID. Depending on the expert, sometimes you can get an answer quickly. You would need to crop the images a bit more for Bugguide but I figure it couldn't hurt to try if you have time.
I see what you mean! Looking at the links you were so kind to provide, I think it looks like Scopula benitaria, too ... but I'm new to moths. And I totally forgot to check the "help me ID this species" box, so thanks.
It looks a lot like Scopula benitaria but there aren't very many references on Bugguide or MPG (the same two reference photos I think). It greatly resembles the lighter one. This also looks similar to a lighter Scopula limboundata. It's tough.
