Description:
Form large, many leveled, sulphur-yellow to orange brackets on trees or down logs. Underside with minute holes. (pores)
Habitat:
Dead or injured deciduous trees
Notes:
Sulphur Shelf is an edible bracket fungus. Known as chicken of the woods. The thinly sliced tender edges are good in stews or simmered for 30 min. Although this is easily identifiable, always use extreme caution when dealing with wild mushrooms or fungus!
