Field Notes

Description:

4th instar of a Nezara viridula nymph. It's an invasive stink bug, originating from Africa but now a worldwide pest.
The adults will be all green, but with some characteristic differences from the local green shield bug (Palomena prasina).

Habitat:

On flowers in an urban park.

I went again in the park and I realized that was not lavender: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/37702181 I also found a later stage of the nymphs: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/38159470
Thanks Maria! The lavender was infested: nymphs on all branches. I should had take a picture of the entire plant to illustrate. I'll pass again in that park to see if I find the nymphs on the next stage.
