Description:

About 1 inch long.

Habitat:

Spotted on a goldenrod flower on the edge of a field and deciduous woods.

Notes:

This beetle is called a Locust Borer because it's larvae bore into black locust trees.

They sure are. Found that out while researching what it was. Funny thing is, I saw only a couple this summer and never got a pic. Today I spotted this one, got some decent pics and then within the next 30 mins or ski spotted more than a dozen more. Two mating pairs as well. Trying to upload the mating pair but file picker is being finicky ATM. They were out in force today.

it is pretty. Looks like all borers are attractive with a destructive streak in them.
