Description:

Botrylloides violaceus is considered an invasive species outside its native range (southern China to Japan and Siberia). It has a range of colors usually orange, yellow, red, purple or tan, and occasionally brown or lavender. It adheres tightly to a substrate and It often overgrows mussels, barnacles, encrusting bryozoans and solitary sea squirts.

Habitat:

Spotted near the bottom of a large jetty rock at Neah Bay, Washington.
