Field Notes

Description:

This animal is about 20 cm long and about 1 cm wide. Although its length and width varies when it moves. Its mode of locomotion looks like that of a slug. Its ventral side looks like a slug's too.

Notes:

I actually found this on my dog's fur. At first I thought it was an internal parasite that has made its way out of my dog's body. However, I'm quite sure it's not because first, I make sure my dog is healthy and without parasites (in or out); second, the "slug" doesn't look like an internal parasite.

Thanks, stho002, this does look like it's a terrestrial flatworm, judging from how its body is somewhat flattened and that it has a clearly distinct dorsal and ventral side.

It is either a terrestrial flatworm, or perhaps a terrestrial ribbonworm

I've seen that spotting and it also came to mind when I saw this animal. Of course this one does not have the "hammerhead".
