Field Notes

Description:

White fuzzy hairs. Some with gray bodies, others with darker bodies. Red head.

Habitat:

Cottonwood forest, garden.

Notes:

These caterpillars have been seen on the ground and climbing buildings in the last week (Sept. 15 - 18.)
We read that they become darker with each molt so are assuming these are newly emerged. According the wikipedia they are highly variable.
