Description:

City planners with a sense of whimsy, that's what we have here. Planted around the courthouse, we have Golden rain trees like this. Also, in the same genus, Chinese rain trees, exotics planted next to magnolias. In the fall, the rustling sound of the dried pods blowing in the street is everywhere ...

Native to eastern Asia, in China and Korea. Other names include Pride of India, China tree and varnish tree. Large panicles of yellow flowers in the spring. Considered invasive in some parts of the world.
