Hierodula Burmeister, 1838, is a genus of praying mantises found throughout Asia. Many species are referred to by the common name Giant Asian Mantis because of their large size. From family Mantidae, subfamily Mantinae, tribe Paramantini.

Hierodula parviceps, the Asian Marbled Mantis or Giant Philippine Mantis, is a large species, and come in many color ranges of green, brown and beige with lovely marbeling in brown, pink & green, and anything in between. Females can be very aggressive, but mostly with prey. Sometimes they will raptor-flick when startled or mishandled, but are usually calm. Adult females are close to 3.5" long, males around 2+". Will eat many types of insect prey, including crickets & superworms.
