Field Notes

Description:

These little leaf-rolling weevils appeared on a sunny morning, solving my mystery leaf packages case!(http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/37320392)

Notes:

Found them on a Rose wood tree. I did not find them earlier probably because I was looking for some sort of larvae or caterpillars :)
These are pretty tiny insects to watch especially if they are busy rolling leaves to build nests on a branch of a huge Rose wood tree and sorry about the hazy pictures.
Not sure about the exact ID, but yes it belongs to family Attelabinae. These are more brownish with yellow legs and black spots.

• Leaf-rolling activities began after the new spring leaves have expanded
• The females are the leaf rollers.
• Leaf-rolls are green to start with and turn brown to umber gradually
• Don't find them during wet spells
• It took about an hour to complete rolling this leaf.
