Field Notes

Description:

Solid yellow with short spikes.

Habitat:

Found on a tree in a mostly mixed grass prairie.

Notes:

Have put the order in the scientific name field since I have asked many experts to look at this caterpillar and not a single one could even give me a family, they all agree it's too early of an instar to ID

Species ID Suggestions

Sorry, cannot help you either. Might be an early instar of a caterpillar (tending to moth), meaning characteristics might completely change. If one did not find a reasonable match you always have to think of a sawfly larva as well.
