Field Notes

Description:

Around an inch and a half from wing tips, with a fringe of yellow at the edge of the wings. Never saw the underside as it flew.

Habitat:

Photographed it in my garden.

Notes:

It was late afternoon and had just rained. I thought it was a leaf, until I noticed a symmetry. When it flew, there seems to have been a yellow coloring under. As a prime rule for "Project Noah" is "Thou Shalt Not Kill," I have no idea what it looks like, on the round. I guess the coloring is a fine camouflage, but it had settled on a white gate. If it was on a leaf or the trunk of a tree, I would never have noticed it.

Fascinating to identify. After absolutely no knowledge about this moth, led by LindaAlisto to a specimen name, then verifying it, saw Leana Lahom-Cristobal's identification. Must now search for more information. Thanks to Linda and Leana for the compass points. Eddy
Again correcting myself after seeing specimens in "moth of the Philippines."
Thanks to LindaAlisto for leading me to identify it.
