Field Notes

Description:

Medium-sized mushroom with zonate, squamous cap and squamous edge, thin trama; adnate, incomplete brown gills; stem that is central, equal, hollow and brittle. Purple brown spore print.

Habitat:

Douglas fir, western hemlock, sitka spruce forest; temperate rainforest about 3 miles from the Pacific Ocean. In needle duff.

Notes:

Probably of the family Strophariacae, but I can't figure out the species. Perhaps it is as yet unnamed.
