Description:

These are true bugs, very large in size. This one was around 4 inches. They are aquatic but get drawn towards night lights, the reason this one landed in my house.

Habitat:

Western Himalayas.

Thanks Leonardo. It was the first time I saw one in my house. I guess they rarely wander away from water. Everyone freaked out here as they were seeing something like this for the first time. :)
Yes! I've found several of these in small streams here where I live but I have had the surprise to find them in my house at night too. And it's not the only species of aquatic insects that does this. Gerridae also have visited my house at night. Great spotting, Harsha!
