Field Notes

Description:

A grey geometrid moth with a wingspan of about 30 mm. It had wavy, black and grey bands. Costa showed black flecks.

Habitat:

Spotted near sports field -native trees around.

Occurs in south-east Australia.

Notes:

Subfamily: Ennominae
This was previously incorrectly identified as P.attacta. My thanks to Peter Marriott and Ms Hewish for correcting the ID. The grey and black bands on the hind wings are fairly straight in P.attacta as compared to the more wavy bands in P.absorpta.

Psilosticha attacta
