Field Notes

Description:

Similar to the Sharp-shinned Hawk but much larger.
This immature hawk has a reddish brown head, white chin and a white underneath with reddish-brown streaking. Tail is banded with a terminal band and rouned bottom. Yellow eyes and legs.

Habitat:

Prefers to roost and hunt in forests, trees and shrubs, it can also be found flying and hunting over open fields.

Notes:

Spotted just before going into a tree and disturbing a Barn Owl
