Field Notes

Description:

Less than 1mm wide this tiny yellow fungus is shaped like cups with hairs around the rim.

Habitat:

On kangaroo dung in dry sclerophyll eucalyptus forest.

Notes:

Beyond the capabilities of my pocket camera but identifying characteristics can be seen. Probably an Ascomycetes like pixie cups but much smaller. A kangaroo dung specialist? .......... as it turns out another name is "Cheilymenia coprinaria var. minima " no wonder it's so small.
