Got this as a house warming gift from my Boyfiend and killed it in about a week.

Alice is right. I had a wonderful collection of orchids in Florida. I would only take them in when the winter cold fronts passed through and those cold north winds would blow. Next time tell him you need information with the plant as it should last and bloom every year. In Sarasota, you can usually just hang it in a tree, except for the two coldest months.
