Description:

Very large yellow and orange Butterfly. It had been hit by a car on the Highway. The second picture shows the underside of the wing. This is the male. (http://www.dallasbutterflies.com/Butterflies/html/philea.html). Family Pieridae.

Habitat:

Heavy shrubbery along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 11.5, 865 meters.
