Field Notes

Description:

A very small red hopper; about 10mm long; even deep red tint throughout the wings

Habitat:

This one was noticed on the driver's door of a very old white Chrysler Valiant in a local carpark. The car had just been driven through the national park (dry sclerophyll eucalyptus) so the animal could have come from anywhere although the car was parked under a very large eucalyptus - Eucalyptus obliqua possibly.

Notes:

Poor photos due to very dark and overcast conditions but this is a species I have never seen before. The genus Austroagalloides is the only one entirely endemic to Australia.
