Field Notes

Description:

4-5 cm sized dragonfly. The spotting is most likely a male since the female are more brownish/yellowish. The wings are transparent with brownish wing markings.

Habitat:

open meadowland next to a small river

Notes:

This spotting can also be a Sympetrum striolatum since they are very similar, but after comparing pictures I found more similarities with S. vulgatum. (see this link if you want to learn more about separating them from eachother: http://www.danodonata.dk/odo_striolatum_vulgatum_uk.htm)
