Description:

The Doris Longwing or The Doris[1] (Laparus doris) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family and only member (i.e., monotypic) of the Laparus genus. It is found from Central America to the Amazon. The Heliconius Laparus doris butterfly is one of the strongest butterflies in the Amazon region. They can live up to 9 months. Being that neotropical butterflies, normally, only live a couple weeks this is an extremely long time. Yhey do this with a charactersitic no other butterfly but the Heliconius have, and this is the their ability to ingest pollen digest pollen externally while it's on the proboscis.

Habitat:

It is found from sea level to 1200 metres in forest clearings.
