Field Notes

Description:

This was a well established specimen with stems reaching almost a meter long. The violet trumpet shaped flowers have a staminode that protrudes out and is lightly bearded at the tip (seen in pic 1). The leaves narrow and deeply and irregular toothed (seen in pic 3).

Habitat:

Spotted in a gravely meadow next to the Umtanum Creek in eastern Washington. Cascade foothills.

Notes:

Cut-leaf penstemon is found from south-central British Columbia through central Washington into northeastern Oregon.
