Description:

In North America, Argiope aurantia is commonly known as the black and yellow garden spider, zipper spider, corn spider, and writing spider, because of the similarity of the web stabilimenta to writing. I came across this one just as it was busy wrapping up a meal

Habitat:

Mason Farm Biological Reserve

Thanks, Jemma and Fran. This was quite a large specimen!
Thanks, Dhirendra, Reza and beaker98!
Wow! 1700! Awesome choice for that one:)
Thank you, beaker98! I debated between the white-eyed vireo and the spider as spotting 1700; because Noah has evoked an interest in insects these past 9 months, I decided to go with the spider! :>)
Great spotting! Love the first picture!
