Field Notes

Description:

Small soft brown owl. Breast is white with brown spots.

Habitat:

Common in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador.

Notes:

I would imagine this owl is a juvenile. I rescued it from the chickens who were about to show him/her what they think of owls in general.

Oh yes, I have also experienced the chicken glare. The chicken peck as well. This little owl is a gorgeous species, and yet another species I had no idea existed. A wonderful introduction.
