Description:

This is a beautiful snake, endemic to the tropical rivers of South America. It is considered the heaviest in the world and can measure more than 6 meters.
This is a small specimen of approximately 2.5 meters long, and we find it in a tributary stream of the Marañon river, according to the villagers it is possible to feed even on peccaries, small tapirs and reptiles of considerable size.

With its dark olive-brown background color, this Green Anaconda (Eunectes murinus) goes almost unnoticed in the Peruvian forest in our Spotting of the Day. The green anaconda, the heaviest extant snake in the world, is primarily known as an aquatic species, and is cumbersome on land. It will however occasionally climbs trees and bushes using its prehensile tail. This shot allows to appreciate that the green anaconda's head is relatively small compared to its thick body".
