Field Notes

Description:

The only ones on the tree this looks like a leaf developing from the end of the gall. The larger one was about 20mm long

Habitat:

On a young eucalyptus sapling (same as previous spotting) in a local sports park.

Mark I have seen several growths that I am calling bud galls. They are usually green but here is an impressive red one. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/38541186 I suggest this is a gall of a wasp or a fly into a bud and several leaves are trying to grow out with little or no success. I have some images of these and will post them when I find them.
