Description:

Unknown species of Frog spotted swimming in the Karasawa River, in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. This Frog was very light color (nearly white) and I was able to see it swimming under the water. When it reached the other bank, it climbed up the smooth rocks and disappeared into the forest.

LivanEscudero, thanks for the help... this has been a hard one to ID. The area I found it at is a popular camping site, so there is a possibility that it was an escaped/released pet. Also, if it helps, the frog was about 4-5 inches long.

Hmmm, If that photo was from Florida, I would have said Cuban Tree Frog (Osteopilus septentrionalis) An invasive that is spreading to many places. However, I don't know if it has found its way to Japan. So, my guess is that it is most likely the Common Southeast Asian Tree Frog (Polypedates leucomystax) Common Southeast Asian Tree Frog: https://www.thainationalparks.com/species/polypedates-leucomystax Cuban Tree Frog: https://ufwildlife.ifas.ufl.edu/frogs/cubantreefrog.shtml
