Field Notes

Description:

This was a large female laying her eggs. About 20 inches long. Very calm around me. No signs of aggression.

Habitat:

Found at Five Ridge Prairie State Preserve. She was laying her eggs right on the trail, so I hope no one steps on them (but this is a very low traffic place.) As you can see on the map, she traveled a long way to lay her eggs as there is no bodies of water nearby.

Notes:

I did get some video of her digging if there is any interest. Uploading to YouTube just takes too long if no one is going to watch it.
