Field Notes

Description:

Also known as Great grey slug, this mollusc is variable in color and patterns and when adult, it can reach between 12 and 20 cm in length. Here, I suppose a juvenile of Leopard slug, mainly grey with some black lines; and about 6 to 7 cm long.

Habitat:

This is a common European species, originating from Mediterranean and today found in many habitats, but always close to habitations. Here, observed under the bark of a dead log, in a forested area of the town park; lowlands of lake Geneva (lac Leman) region, foothills of Jura mountain range.
