Clavate Tortoise Beetle
Plagiometriona clavata
he very cute Golden Tortoise Beetle looks like a cross between a turtle and a frog. The adult can quickly change the color of its "carapace" from dull reddish-brown to glorious, glittering gold.

Habitat:

Widely distributed on sweet potato, bindweed and other plants of the morning glory.

I was close though. I couldn't figure out the difference in color, but then it said it changed color so I figured it was the golden one. I am happy you found the correct ID.
