Field Notes

Description:

Several of these small clumps of spiky looking stuff were pushing up through a layer of damp gum leaves. About 60mm across.

Habitat:

In a local state forest under medium sized gum trees.

Notes:

Ozonium is a hyphal mass that is oxposed outside the substrate. <br>
Leuba found an ID - thanks. It turns out to be a type of inky-cap !!!! <br> Also called Agaricus radians and Coprinus radians. The fruiting bodies arise from this hyphal mass. <br>
Family: Psathyrellaceae <br>
Maybe synonymous with C domesticus http://www.mushroomexpert.com/coprinellus_domesticus.html
