Field Notes

Description:

A nice, large, yellow-bodied Nephila. She's been here at least almost a month. This time she's got a sizable prey item (--wing is transparent and resesembles shape of cicada's).

Habitat:

Web observed strung between banana (Musa sp.) and coconut (Cocos nucifera) trees in a large semi-urban yard & garden next to a heavily disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.

Notes:

Flash photography.
