Field Notes

Description:

This is a very small and fast bird, only some 10cm in length, with a curved bill. The adult male has a glossy green head, throat and nape, and a violet breast band. Belly is whitish yellow, but its colour depends on subspecies.

Habitat:

This is a common sunbird in equatorial parts of African continent - here, observed in residential area of Abuja, rather urban environment, but calm with lot of greenery, wooded parts close to lake.
