Description:

The Oriental darter or Indian darter is a water bird of tropical South Asia and Southeast Asia. It has a long and slender neck with a straight, pointed bill and, like the cormorant, it hunts for fish while its body submerged is in water

Notes:

I took this snap from the lake at the backyard of my residence. The catch slipped away from the Darter.

Congrats! This spotting has been featured as a PN Fun Fact! Project Noah Fun Fact: Called snakebird because of their long sinuous necks, members of the genus Anhinga, search underwater for a meal. When they find a fish, they spear it and then bring it to the surface, toss it into the air and then catch and swallow it whole. The Oriental darter (aka Indian darter) is native to tropical South Asia and Southeast Asia. Other species of Anhinga can be found in the Americas, Africa and Australia.
